FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe Red Cherry Coffee Flavor Profile

In almost every specialty coffee shop, you can find a coffee called "Yirgacheffe" accompanied by the enticing slogan "Yirgacheffe on the tongue, a hundred flowers bloom."

In Ethiopia's southwestern Sidamo region, a world-renowned coffee origin, lies the small town of Yirgacheffe at an elevation of 1,700-2,100 meters. This highland town has historically been wetland, where "cheffe" in "Yirgacheffe" means "wetland" and "Yirga" means "settle." Long ago, early settlers came to this land with its mild climate, fertile soil, and year-round absence of extreme heat, making it their home and creating their way of life.

The blooming flowers of Yirgacheffe have nurtured magical coffee beans rich with floral aromas, enchanting coffee lovers worldwide. Today, the coffee produced here under the name "Yirgacheffe" has become synonymous with Ethiopian specialty coffee.

Yirgacheffe coffee is one of the most distinctive coffees in the world, an outstanding representative of African washed coffees, and has always enjoyed prestige in the eyes of global coffee connoisseurs. The high-quality washed Arabica coffee beans are suitable for various degrees of roasting, perfectly presenting fresh and bright floral and fruity aromas, with beautifully shaped and complete beans.

The popularity of Yirgacheffe is largely influenced by the specialty coffee trend. Its citrus flavor, combined with jasmine fragrance and unique wine-like acidity, has established a rebellious flavor profile. Traditional Italian dark roasting essentially eliminates coffee's acidity, let alone citrus or fruit flavors, making Yirgacheffe the representative of floral and fruity coffee profiles.
