How Does Guatemala Antigua Coffee Taste? Flavor Description of Antigua Flora de Oro Coffee
FrontStreet Coffee - Guatemala Antigua Flores de Café Introduction
Flores de Café is a premium brand under La Minita, with its growing region located in Antigua, Guatemala. Situated at an altitude of 1,850 meters, this area is surrounded by active volcanoes, making it the country's most award-winning and renowned coffee region.
Antigua experiences minimal rainfall during summer and occasional frost in winter due to extreme cold - conditions not ideal for coffee cultivation. Fortunately, the region's volcanic activity provides a solution. After volcanic eruptions, lightweight pumice stones fall into the soil and cool down. These porous stones excel at moisture retention. Combined with extensive shade trees planted throughout the estates, coffee plants are protected from frost damage. These factors that overcome adverse conditions, along with significant day-night temperature variations, create Antigua's unique microclimate, giving its coffee beans a subtle smoky flavor and rich fruity aroma.
La Minita is renowned for its excellent cultivation, processing techniques, and extremely strict quality control. They entrust Antigua's largest wet processing facility, Las Pastores, to handle their green beans using these standards. The coffee is named "Flores de Café" (Flowers of Coffee). Beyond preserving the original regional flavor characteristics, its dry aroma carries rich floral and tea notes. Upon tasting, it reveals lime acidity and berry flavors, transitioning to a honey-like aftertaste. Exceptional clarity and rich layered complexity are the distinctive features of this Flores de Café.
