Ethiopia possesses unique natural conditions suitable for cultivating all imaginable coffee varieties.

The majority of coffee production (95% according to 2011 data) is handled by small shareholders. Ethiopia has distinctive flavors that set it apart from other origins. The main coffee types include five major regions: Limu, Djimma, Yirgachefe, Sidamo, and Harar.

Yirgachefe coffee is one of the most distinctive coffees in the world, an outstanding representative of African washed coffee, and has always enjoyed a prestigious reputation among global coffee connoisseurs. As a high-quality washed Arabica coffee, it is suitable for various degrees of roasting and perfectly presents fresh, bright floral and fruit aromas, with beautifully complete bean shapes.

The popularity of Yirgachefe is largely influenced by the specialty coffee trend. Its citrus flavor, combined with jasmine fragrance and unique taste with wine-like acidity, has established a rebellious flavor profile. Traditional Italian heavy roasting basically eliminates the coffee's acidity, let alone citrus and fruit flavors, making Yirgachefe a representative of floral and fruit-based coffee.

This coffee grows in regions ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 meters above sea level. The beans are medium-sized and can compete with Mocha. The mouthfeel is rich and full-bodied with unique charm, always providing a refreshing sensation. Light roasting reveals unique lemon, floral, and honey-like sweetness, with soft fruit acidity and citrus flavors, creating a fresh and bright taste. Yirgachefe is a small town in Ethiopia located at 1,700-2,100 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest altitude coffee growing regions in the world. It's worth noting that the Yirgachefe region originally belonged to the Sidamo region, but due to the unique flavor of coffee produced here, it was separated as its own distinct region.

Yirgachefe is located in the Sidamo province of Ethiopia, in a plateau area 2,000 meters above sea level, making it one of Ethiopia's highest altitude coffee growing regions. The coffee produced here is called Yirgachefe. "Yirga" means to settle down, and "cheffe" means "wetland," so its original meaning is "let us settle and make a living in this wetland." This small town is located on the eastern side of the East African Rift Valley.
