FrontStreet Coffee Introduction - Nicaragua Natural Coffee
Nicaragua is located in central Central America and is a presidential republic. Nicaragua borders Honduras to the north, Costa Rica to the south, the Caribbean Sea to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west, with Managua as its capital. Nicaragua's climate features high temperatures and abundant rainfall in the eastern plains, belonging to a tropical marine climate; the western coastal lowlands have significantly less precipitation than the east, with distinct dry and wet seasons, belonging to a tropical savanna climate; the central highlands have an average annual temperature of 18°C and annual rainfall of 1500-2500mm, with the rainy season from May to December. Nicaragua is also rich in resources, being one of Latin America's major gold-producing countries, with 106 proven gold veins and annual production of 70,000 ounces, ranking 13th in the world. Its forests are also extremely widespread, covering 43% of the country's area, mainly exporting pine and mahogany.
Although Nicaragua's natural products are so abundant, it is now one of the poorest countries in Central America. A poor economic foundation has led to the country's coffee industry being in a backward state, and coffee farmers are in extreme poverty. Fortunately, Nicaragua has received some foreign aid funds to improve coffee quality. The best Nicaraguan coffee trees grow in the northern and central parts of the country, with coffee from the Matagalpa, Jinotega, and Nueva Segovia regions being the most outstanding.
Lemon Tree Estate is located in the plateau region of Matagalpa at an altitude of 950-1300 meters. The coffee trees planted around are surrounded by many towering coniferous forests, which allows the coffee trees to receive sunlight while avoiding sunburn to the plants. The current estate owner is Erwin Mireishu. Let's first talk about one of the estate's famous varieties - "Nica Java." The full name of Nica Java is "Java variety from Nicaragua," but our estate owner Mr. Erwin named it "Nica Java" to distinguish it from Java from Java Island. This bean achieved an excellent second place in the 2008 Nicaragua Cup of Excellence (COE) national competition. The bidding amount even surpassed that year's champion, making Nica Java famous overnight. After this, Nica Java also adopted natural processing and pulped natural processing methods different from traditional washed processing. From the delicate vanilla flavor of washed processing to tropical fruit spice flavors, two different flavors of Nica Java were added.
Nicaragua's Lemon Tree Estate not only has excellent techniques in variety selection and breeding but also invests significant energy and money in processing methods. The Erwin family is very enthusiastic about trying various steps that can produce good quality and never hesitates to invest in equipment. At Lemon Tree Estate, besides Nica Java, the estate's Pacamara honey processing is also a major highlight. This also represents the hard work and sweat behind the Erwin family of Lemon Tree Estate!
Compared to Guatemala coffee, Nicaragua coffee can be considered relatively unknown. Compared to Guatemala's high mountain beans, Nicaraguan beans are more balanced but lack a bit of their own characteristics. They are medium-sized grains with a mild taste and are very aromatic and rich. Nicaragua is located in central Central America, with the best Nicaraguan coffee produced in Matagalpa's Jinotega and Nueva Segovia. High-quality Nicaraguan coffee ranks among the top in world coffee beans and enjoys a good reputation.
At medium-dark roast level, it has a certain sweetness, with不明显 acidity, and the aftertaste has hints of chocolate and dried fruit. As the temperature decreases, fruit acidity can be felt, but it remains very mild. The taste is clean, but the body and persistence in the mouth are somewhat lacking. Suitable for those who don't like acidic coffee and prefer balanced, sweet-tasting flavors.
