Origin and Processing

The Kebel Aricha processing station is located in the Gedeo region of southern Ethiopia, which governs the well-known Yirgacheffe and Kochere areas. Aricha processing station is situated in the Yirgacheffe city area, with a small place called Guji located four kilometers to the west—precisely the most popular Sidamo-Guji sub-region in recent years. Aricha processing station is owned by Mr. Surafel Birhanu, with approximately 650-750 small coffee farmers nearby who bring their ripe coffee cherries here for processing in exchange for cash.

Aricha processing station produces about 5 containers (18.2 metric tons/20') of specialty coffee annually, divided into 10 commercial grades and sold to global coffee markets. Aricha processing station is located in the most famous micro-region of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe—Misty Valley. Originally the most renowned washed processing station locally, in recent years its excellent natural processing techniques have made Yirgacheffe Aricha even more famous. With charming flavors and rich tropical fruit tastes, it's no wonder that many coffee enthusiasts are captivated by it! The microclimate and terroir of the Yirgacheffe region have become the optimal formula for studying specialty coffee bean cultivation. Natural organic cultivation methods, suitable climate, and fertile humus soil all provide superior conditions for coffee fruit development, making it quite unique.

Flavor Profile

This FrontStreet Coffee Natural Yirgacheffe Aricha G1 features apricot blossom and jasmine floral notes, with flavors of apricot, red wine, mango, and pineapple. It has honey and brown sugar-like sweetness, with a persistent finish carrying hints of cardamom and cocoa. As the coffee cools, it reveals very lively and bright citrus and blueberry acidity that is gentle yet full of allure—like being immersed in early autumn ocean waters, caressed by pleasantly cool seawater, offering both impactful power and comforting gentleness.

Roasting Philosophy

To highlight the more pronounced flavors and lively acidity of this FrontStreet Coffee Natural Yirgacheffe Aricha G1, we use a light roast, removing the beans at the end of the first crack. However, Cat Master personally prefers the flavor when the beans are removed during the intense first crack, which provides even stronger acidity. But roasting to the end of the first crack allows the entire bean's flavor profile to be more complete, with better sweetness and finish. For overall balance, we indeed must sacrifice a bit of acidity.
