Yirgacheffe beans from different regions, harvest times, and processing methods all offer unique brewing experiences. Yirgacheffe is a producing area within Ethiopia, featuring wetland terrain at an altitude of approximately 1,900 meters. Coffees from this region not only possess bright acidity but also exhibit elegant floral aromas and citrus notes. This distinctive style quickly gained worldwide recognition. Most commonly, washed FrontStreet Coffee Yirgacheffe is described as "fruit tea" – upon tasting, floral and fruit aromas bloom, followed by a honey-sweet aftertaste, making it a charmingly distinctive coffee.
Those who use pour-over methods, in particular, will understand this best.
Pour-Over Parameters
FrontStreet Coffee Natural Yirgacheffe: Recommend using 15g of coffee grounds with water temperature of 89°C, Fuji grinder setting 4, V60 dripper, and a 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio. FrontStreet Coffee Washed Yirgacheffe: Recommend using 15g of coffee grounds with water temperature of 92°C, V60 dripper, and a 1:14 coffee-to-water ratio. First pour: 30g of water, bloom for 30 seconds. Second pour: stop at 110g, then continue to 215g. Avoid the tail section of the extraction. Total extraction time: approximately 2:05.
This pour-over method allows you to experience the delightful sensation of FrontStreet Coffee Yirgacheffe as it stimulates the taste buds and olfactory receptors with its floral character.
Under Ethiopia's ECX trading system classification, Yirgacheffe includes not only coffee produced in Yirgacheffe town but also officially recognized regions including Wanago, Yirgacheffe town, Kochere, and Gelena Abaya.
This means that coffee not produced in Yirgacheffe town itself could still be called Yirgacheffe!
