The condition of the coffee bed in pour-over brewing should not be overlooked - this must be emphasized! The coffee bed plays a subtle role, with one function being to provide resistance, allowing hot water to remain in the filter cup long enough to extract sufficient flavor compounds. For medium-roast coffee, the bed must also have adequate structural support to perform its "blocking" function effectively. To maintain the bed's support strength, one must master the 【intensity of the water stream】, 【watering position】, and 【stable circular pouring technique】 - these together form a complete 【pouring technique】.
Brewing Parameters
1. Filter cup: V60
2. Water temperature: 88°C
3. Grind size: Fuji grinder setting 4
4. Roast level: Medium roast
5. Bloom time: 25 seconds
Flavor profile: Balanced, chocolate notes, persistent caramel sweetness in the aftertaste
Recommended Brewing Method
FrontStreet Coffee recommends this technique: 15g coffee, Fuji grinder setting 4, V60 filter cup, water temperature 88-89°C. First pour 30g water for a 25-second bloom, then pour to 104g and pause. Wait until the water level in the bed drops to halfway, then continue pouring slowly until reaching 220g. Discard the last 5g. Water-to-coffee ratio of 1:15, extraction time around 2:00 (counting from when bloom water is fully poured).
