Honduras has been cultivating coffee for over two hundred years (since 1804). Statistics show that the current cultivation area reaches 280,000 hectares, dominated by small coffee farmers. 92% of Honduran coffee farmers are small individuals, with most coffee plantations covering less than 3.5 hectares. These small farmers account for 60% of coffee production! Coffee is an extremely important crop in Honduras.

In the coffee plantations, coffee farmers harvest red cherries, process them through washing and fermentation, and grade them according to market demands to satisfy consumers' different flavor preferences. Honduras harvests three million bags of coffee annually, supplying high-quality coffee with unique flavors. The quantity is abundant and the quality is excellent! It has now become the largest coffee-producing country in Central America and one of the top ten coffee exporters globally.

Freddy Leonel Castellanos Hernandez - Leonel's brother planted a 0.5-hectare farm in 1995, but accessing the location was extremely difficult (requiring a 1-hour walk to reach there), and due to harsh climate conditions where the farm wasn't producing, his brother decided not to continue the struggle in 2000 and abandoned the project.

A few months later, Leonel told him that if he allowed him to work to make it profitable, his brother agreed and granted the heritage; Leonel began working extensively, participating in the estate, and by 2002 had already restored the estate. From then until 2010, he sold coffee in traditional markets. The following year, with support from some producers and exporter San Vicente, he began preparing the first batch of specialty coffee. Leonel started participating in the Cup of Excellence competition in 2015 and has achieved distinguished placements year after year, for example, ranking 8th this year.

This year, his coffee harvest aims to support his children: one of whom is studying high school in San Pedro Sula, and the youngest (2 years old) was born with a foot problem and is receiving physical therapy so she can walk without any issues.
