Introduction:

Since the implementation of the ECX system in 2008, most of the green coffee beans have been sold through this bidding system.

This batch of washed Yirgacheffe G1 from Gedeb, Chelchele is located in the southeastern part of the Yirgacheffe region. Chelchele village is situated 60 kilometers south of Yirgacheffe center, about an hour's drive, within the Gedeb district of Ethiopia's Gedeo administrative region. Gedeb is a very famous premium coffee producing area in Ethiopia.

Local small-scale farmers deliver their harvested red cherry fruits directly to the village processing station for sale. The Gedeb town area has many African drying beds because at high altitudes, the temperature ranges between 15-25°C, requiring longer drying times for the green beans. The red coffee cherries come from approximately 800 local family coffee smallholder members. These small farmers have an average coffee cultivation area of less than 1.5 hectares, with planting altitudes of about 1,900-2,000 meters.

The coffee varieties are mainly a mix of Typica and Heirloom (local native varieties). Rated as G1, the highest grade by ECX, these beans excel in appearance, consistency, freshness, dry aroma, and flavor. The aroma is exceptionally rich, characteristic of the Yirgacheffe terroir, emitting elegant and captivating floral perfume notes, with floral aromas, bright citrus fruit acidity, lemon, berries, and sweet and sour honey aromas emerging.

Flavor Description:

Floral aromas with sweet citrus, orange fruits, jasmine notes, distinctive lemon characteristics, rich flavor, balanced sweet and sour notes, smooth and sweet.

Ethiopia is the birthplace of Arabica coffee beans and the first country where coffee was discovered. Today, many wild coffee varieties still exist in the Kaffa primitive forest. Ethiopia's first impression is often one of poverty, backwardness, and hunger, lacking history and culture. In fact, if not for the turmoil of war that left her heavily indebted, Ethiopia would be a beautiful country with an ancient historical civilization. It possesses the largest East African Rift Valley terrain on Earth, the true birthplace of humanity, and the location of the legendary Garden of Eden from the Bible. This area gathers East Africa's richest wildlife and birds, especially in the Awash National Park, the largest of its kind. Ethiopia is one of the few African countries with ancient traditional history. Every city in Ethiopia has its own story and personality. The capital Addis Ababa, situated on a plateau at an altitude of over 2,400 meters, means "new flower."
