Ideal Growing Conditions

Colombia's coffee regions sit in the foothills of the Andes, where the climate is mild and the air humid. Three Cordilleras - mountain ranges - run north to south toward the Andes, and coffee is cultivated along their highlands. The mountain terraces create a mosaic of microclimates, which means the harvest never really stops: different coffees ripen in succession throughout the year. And fortunately, unlike Brazil, Colombia never has to worry about frost. The country counts roughly 2.7 billion coffee trees, of which 66% are planted in modern, intensively managed plantations while the remainder grows on traditionally run small farms.
