The Natural Wonders of Gaoligong Mountain
Gaoligong Mountain is a high-altitude coffee ecological plantation base with unique natural advantages.
Baihualing carries the perilousness of the Three Gorges, the magnificence of Huangguoshu Waterfall, the tranquility of Jiuzhaigou, and the splendid diversity of ethnic cultures.
Baihualing: an ocean of flowers, a world of birds, a paradise for animals, and the site of Bidun Coffee's organic ecological plantation.
Here you can feast your eyes on the natural grandeur of Gaoligong Mountain; here you can feel the vital force of the coffee trees.
Original ecological soil, with fully organic cultivation and production throughout the process.
Worth noting: our plantation is the only coffee cultivation base in Baihualing to have obtained organic conversion product certification.
What a beautiful feeling it is to imagine spending the rest of one's life peacefully and leisurely in this misty place, accompanied by coffee trees.
Look closely at the Bidun Coffee plantation and you see an oily green that stirs the imagination.
The Bidun Coffee plantation covers over 1,000 acres. Its three-dimensional ecological climate, "four seasons in one mountain, different weather in ten miles," has created a veritable hometown of Chinese coffee.
The base stays lush green even in winter, green enough to intoxicate and fascinate.
That same "four seasons in one mountain, different weather in ten miles" is reflected vividly in the small coffee beans, some red, some green.
The Three Realms of Coffee
Coffee has three realms: roasting, dissolving, and embracing, or blending.
1. Roasting. This refers to high-temperature roasting. It is the refinement of the coffee bean and the forging of its quality, a qualitative purification and transformation, the key step that turns a plant fruit into a premium beverage. The degree of roasting determines the quality of the coffee; roasting gives the bean its life. Without roasting, coffee beans cannot become coffee; without hardship and testing, no hero becomes a hero.
2. Dissolving. Coffee dissolves in water. Water is the carrier of coffee's aromatic, mellow flavor, activating the energy and quality held in the grounds. Coffee powder transforms from dry powder into a beverage with the help of water; through water it reveals fragrance and mellowness, while also elevating the quality of the water itself. When a person chooses a profession, they rely on it to survive in society, and they too should promote and develop that work to give back to what sustains them.
3. Embracing, or blending. A cup of coffee can take creamer, sugar, milk, alcohol; multiple substances can be added and the coffee tolerates them and blends with them skillfully, deriving all kinds of styles and flavors. If coffee could not tolerate other substances, it would become monotonous and dull. So too in life: only a person with an open mind who embraces all can have a rich, colorful life.
In summary, for a person to achieve great things in their career: first, they must withstand the tempering of hardship and setbacks to forge strong willpower and character, so as to better reach their goals; second, through their work, other people, and society they realize life's value, yet must not forget to elevate their work and give back to others and to society; third, with an open mind that embraces all, they continuously absorb experience and learn from others to enrich themselves, displaying a rich and colorful landscape of life.
FrontStreet Coffee Recommendation
Yunnan's coffee story goes back further than most people expect. In 1904 a French missionary, Tian Deneng, brought coffee seeds, the Typica variety, from Vietnam into Yunnan and planted the first coffee tree in Zhugula village, Binchuan county, in the province's modern era. The province's favorable geography and climate made small-grain, or Arabica, coffee a quiet success, and today it is grown mainly across the southwest in Baoshan, Dehong, Pu'er, and Lincang.
For an entry point into Chinese Arabica, FrontStreet Coffee's Yunnan Baoshan small-grain coffee is a clear starting place. It is washed and roasted to a medium level, which highlights a caramel sweetness while keeping some acidity, so the cup expresses the terroir of the region. Baoshan's coffee history began in the mid-1950s, introduced by the patriotic overseas Chinese businessman Liang Jinshan, and the frost-free, warm climate of the Lujiangba area, with its dry-hot river valley and wide day-night temperature swings, gives the lot its characteristic sweetness and finish.
To go deeper, FrontStreet's 2013 Yunnan natural Typica comes from the company's own estate planted that year. Typica is one of the oldest and purest Arabica varieties, and the estate's natural processing gives the cup more weight and a more pronounced sweet-tart balance, with citrus and berry notes, a light fermented wine aroma, caramel sweetness, and a creamy finish. Yunnan sits on the golden growing belt near 25°N, at around 1,000 m in most areas, where temperatures of 16-21°C and abundant rain and sunlight do the rest.
