1. Achieving Success Through Time and Continuous Experimentation
This roasting method controls the degree of roast (for example: I-ROAST) by adjusting the time on the machine, or by using the manufacturer's recommended degree of roast control methods, and trying several roasts. Then adjust the roast degree by decreasing the time. If you feel that this roast is too acidic or too bright, then extend the time a bit more next time. Conversely, if you feel it's too bitter or too astringent, then shorten the time a bit.
The disadvantage of this method is that the results obtained this time cannot be applied to another type of bean. Each type of bean must be repeatedly tested to determine the optimal roast degree. Additionally, you must remember that roasting records can only be used on this machine and are not applicable to other machines.
2. Controlling Roast Degree Through Visual, Auditory, and Olfactory Changes
Human's five senses are the most widely used and best judgment tools, using sensory perception to control the degree of roast. Just like when you watch a movie and feel it should end, you naturally know. Roasting coffee beans is just like this - when you feel that the aroma, color, and sound have reached a certain level, you know this is what you want.
3. Controlling Roast Degree Through Electronic Instruments and Equipment
The electronic instruments mentioned here refer to things like sensors. By burying sensors in the coffee beans during roasting, you can obtain the surface temperature of the coffee. The temperature obtained from the sensor is just a rough number and can only be used as a reference. When the value on the sensor reaches a certain level, you know it's time to end.
The sensor values are different on different roasting equipment and cannot be used as mutual reference standards.
Recommended Beginner Coffee Bean Brands
FrontStreet Coffee's beginner coffee beans include Yirgacheffe Coffee, Panama Butterfly Coffee, and Indonesian Mandheling Coffee, all of which have full guarantees in terms of brand and quality. More importantly, they offer extremely high value for money - a half-pound (227 grams) package costs only about 80-90 yuan. Calculating at 15 grams per cup of pour-over coffee, one package can make 15 cups of coffee, with each single-origin coffee costing only about 6 yuan. Compared to cafes that sell coffee for dozens of yuan per cup, this is extremely cost-effective.
