The coffee bean I'm introducing today is actually quite interesting. It exists outside the mainstream varieties that the domestic industry currently pursues, lacking the spotlight effect, but in today's international coffee world, it belongs to one of the emerging newcomers from Southeast Asia.
The origin of this bean is in the West Java region of Indonesia, which is one of the main coffee-producing areas in Asia. The most famous coffee varieties in this country are probably the various Mandhelings, which has created a preconceived notion in people's subjective impressions of Indonesian coffee, suggesting that Indonesian coffee should be in the Mandheling style, at most with some improvements and enhancements based on Mandheling. It wasn't until I tasted this bean that I truly realized I couldn't think so presumptuously.
Flavor
Dry Aroma
Rich floral fragrance, dried fruit aroma, and red wine aroma.
Brewing
During brewing, it quickly brings out the enticing aroma of preserved fruits. Upon tasting, you experience complex floral notes with a quick and strong aftertaste. The flavor profile tends toward mango and jackfruit, with noticeable fructose sweetness. This is probably why this bean is named Aromanis.
Acidity
The acidity is gentle and not bright, maintaining itself beneath various complex fruit flavors, without losing elegance.
Body
Given the distinct preserved fruit flavors, the overall body tends to be rich and full-bodied with strong texture, but not overly heavy.
Cupping Profile
The main characteristic of this bean lies in its complex sweetness and fruity aroma. Compared with the African Yirgacheffe, which is also famous for its floral notes, more prominent fruit flavors are its main feature. Its flavor profile leans toward heavier-tasting tropical fruits like mango and jackfruit, complex and mellow, while the unique honey processing method brings a subtle red wine charm. This bean is a typical representative with very prominent sweetness, standing confidently even in the global coffee spectrum.
This flavor profile is extremely rare among Indonesian coffee varieties, completely breaking away from the impression Indonesian coffee has given people over the years. It consistently maintains very high cupping scores, completely on par with some 90PLUS varieties, truly deserving the title of Asia's rising star!
Processing
This bean uses hand-picking to ensure the stability of the fruit. After picking, the outer skin is removed, and it undergoes sun-drying while retaining the pulp, which is what we call natural + honey processing. After about one month of sun-drying, it undergoes washing and other treatments, then the beans are stored for about half a month before packaging.
Natural + honey processing - this entire complex and high-risk process has the sole purpose of creating a more complex and full flavor profile, reflecting the wonderful experience brought by this bean's complex heritage.
Origin
Origin: Sunda Hejo, West Java, Indonesia
Altitude: 1400-1600m
Soil: Mainly volcanic black soil
The plantations are basically all above 1400 meters altitude, complemented by local typical volcanic soil, creating unique flavors.
Variety
The variety of this surprisingly astonishing bean belongs to S795. S795 is called Jember in Indonesia. It was introduced from India to local farmers by the Jember Coffee Research Center in East Java, and Javanese farmers directly call this S795 variety Jember.
S795 beans have a blue-green color. Their natural variation comes from S288, and initially S288 was an excellent hybrid variety cultivated in India in 1946. The predecessor of S288 came from the hybrid of S288 (first generation) and Typica, named S26. Because the first generation of S288 beans was a hybrid of Arabica and Liberica, it always carried the earthy taste of Liberica. Indian botanists then hybridized the first generation S288 with the Kent variety (a hybrid of the first generation S288 and Typica) and the second generation S288 to create the current S795. The current S795 variety carries Liberica heritage, but through careful cultivation by Indian botanists, its flavor is more elegant, while inheriting strong disease resistance and high yield characteristics. In recent years, both Indonesian and Indian governments have been vigorously promoting the cultivation of this variety.
From the complex background of S795, it can be seen that this is an artificially selected hybrid variety, with Typica and Liberica heritage in its bloodline. Years of careful breeding have created its current unique flavor.

The Indonesian coffee beans - [West Java Honey Processed Coffee] roasted by FrontStreet Coffee have full guarantees in both brand and quality. More importantly, the cost-performance ratio is extremely high. A half-pound (227 grams) package costs only about 118 yuan. Calculating at 15 grams of coffee powder per cup, one package can make 15 cups of coffee, with each cup costing only about 7 yuan. Compared to coffee shops selling cups for dozens of yuan, this is truly a conscientious recommendation.
