FrontStreet Coffee Recommendation
Roast level is one of the key factors shaping a coffee's final flavor: the deeper the roast, the more bitter and full-bodied the cup; the lighter the roast, the more acidic and delicate. If you want a balanced cup without leaning too sour or too bitter, medium-roast beans like this Costa Rican lot are an excellent place to start.
FrontStreet's medium-roast lineup offers plenty of company for this Costa Rica SHB. FrontStreet Brazil Queen Estate, a yellow Bourbon from the world's largest coffee-producing country, is gently sweet with notes of creamy peanut, chocolate, toasted bread, and sugarcane, and works equally well for pour-over, moka pot, or espresso. FrontStreet Jamaica Blue Mountain No.1, also roasted medium, blends acidity, bitterness, sweetness, and body into an elegant whole, with chocolate, roasted nuts, cream, and caramel in the cup.
For something fruitier, FrontStreet Strawberry Candy Geisha Blend pairs Costa Rican honey-processed coffee with washed Geisha from Panama; roasted medium, it shows orange-blossom honey notes and a rounded sweetness, and suits cold brew, pour-over, and espresso alike. If you prefer a softer profile, FrontStreet 2013 Natural Typica from Yunnan offers nuts, brown sugar, black tea, and dried apricot - a great-value daily drinker.
