What comes to mind when you think of Africa, thousands of miles away? Hungry children with swollen bellies? Wildlife running across the savanna? Our imagination of Africa is actually quite one-sided and singular. One Africa, multiple perspectives.

Famous African Coffee Growing Regions:

Ivory Coast

Some say it is the world's third largest coffee producing country after Brazil and Colombia, while others claim it's Indonesia. What is certain is that its production of the original Robusta variety ranks first in the world.

The main growing areas are in the southern regions, producing medium-sized Robusta coffee beans.

Ethiopia

Ethiopia is an agricultural country with history and tradition that can be called the birthplace of coffee. The southwestern region of Kaffa is considered the origin of the name "coffee," while the southern region of Sidamo is the main growing area. The eastern highlands of Harar are also famous, just like the coffee named after it.

Yemen

There is a theory that coffee was brought from Ethiopia to Yemen, from where it spread to the rest of the world.

As the birthplace of the Arabica variety name, it once gained fame for its Mocha coffee production, but today it no longer shows the grandeur of its heyday.

More importantly, they offer extremely high value for money. A half-pound (227g) bag costs only around 80-90 yuan. Calculating at 15g per pour-over coffee, one bag can make 15 cups of coffee, with each single-origin coffee costing only about 6 yuan.
