About Pacamara Coffee Bean Variety

It gained worldwide fame in the 2004 Cup of Excellence (COE) and frequently won championships within 2-3 years. The Pacamara produced by Los Volcanes Estate in Guatemala set a record price of $80.2 per pound of green beans in 2008.

The origin of its variety and name: It is a derived variety from the elephant bean Maragogype and Pacas. Taking the first 4 letters of Maragogype and Pacas to form Pacamara, it is an excellent coffee variety developed in El Salvador. The coffee beans are very large, similar to elephant beans, about 21-22 mesh. It has been the best coffee variety in Central and South America in recent years. Every country or farm hopes to find the best area to grow this variety to produce the finest coffee, such as Geisha from Panama. The characteristics of Pacamara coffee include bright fruit acidity and very pure, delicate sweetness. Although the Pacamara variety's appearance is still quite similar to its cousin - the elephant bean variety.

Since 2006, COE has cupped Pacamara from 30 estates. Some flavors are truly superstars, such as the 2006 Honduras champion Santa Martha, the 2007 El Salvador third-place Cerro Negro (Black Mountain Estate), the regular COE champion estate El Injerto from Guatemala, and the 2008 El Salvador runner-up Pacamara Estate. These are all outstanding representatives of Pacamara, but they are all award-winning batches, so the prices are very expensive.

Pacamara has full, rich, and complex flavors. Few coffee varieties have both fruit acidity while maintaining distinct sweetness, with diverse notes of drupes, vanilla plants, tropical fruits, chocolate, and spice sweetness.

Pacamara Coffee Bean Brand Recommendations

FrontStreet Coffee's roasted Guatemala Pacamara coffee beans offer full guarantees in both brand and quality. More importantly, they provide extremely high value for money. A half-pound (227g) package costs only about 118 RMB. Calculating at 15g of coffee powder per cup, one package can make 15 cups of coffee, with each cup costing only about 7 RMB. Compared to coffee shops selling cups for dozens of RMB, this is truly a conscientious recommendation.
