Honduras

Population: 8,250,000

Although it is not described by HCAFE as a coffee-growing region, many coffee beans labeled by roasters come from the Santa Barbara region of Honduras. Several coffee-growing areas cross into Santa Barbara (a government department of the country). Some might say it needs its own description, but the more appropriate approach seems to be to list the growing regions according to official principles. There are also excellent Pacas variety batches from the Santa Barbara region that, under good quality conditions, possess a unique and fruity flavor profile that is absolutely worth pursuing.

COPAN

The Copan region is located in the city of Copan in western Honduras, with the most famous local Maya ruins. This area borders Guatemala, and regions like this remind me to重视 the actual origin of coffee rather than the producing country. The division by country is somewhat arbitrary, as consumers find it difficult (unfortunately) to distinguish whether coffee beans come from Honduras or Guatemala. The Copan region is located north of the Santa Barbara coffee zone.

Altitude: 1,000-1,500m

Harvest: November~March

Varieties: Bourbon, Caturra, Catuai

OPALACA

The Opalaca region is located in the southern area of Santa Barbara, as well as Intibuca and Lempira. It is named after the Opalaca mountain range that extends through the area.

Altitude: 1,100-1,500m

Harvest: November~February

Varieties: Bourbon, Catuai, Typica

Honduras Coffee Characteristics

Honduran coffee beans belong to a relatively mild flavor profile with rich mouthfeel and distinct aroma. The estates are located in coffee-growing regions with abundant volcanic soil and grow under good shade, providing a smooth and refreshing coffee experience.

With growing understanding of Honduran coffee beans, South American countries have generally been perceived as sources of long-term, large-scale commercial grade coffee production. With improvements over the past five years or so, some farmers in certain regions have begun to produce better quality coffee. We are honored to have the opportunity to offer this impressive coffee bean. For this year's harvest, we present a clean, elegant, and mild beverage.

Aroma/flavor characteristics: balanced acidity, gentle mouthfeel, natural sweetness with subtle chocolate and vanilla notes.

Honduran Coffee Bean Brand Recommendations

Honduran coffee beans roasted by FrontStreet Coffee offer full guarantees in both brand and quality. More importantly, they provide extremely high value for money. A 227-gram box costs only 72 yuan. Calculated at 15 grams of coffee powder per cup, one package can make 15 cups of coffee, with each cup costing only about 5.4 yuan. Compared to the often tens of yuan per cup price sold in coffee shops, this is truly a conscientious recommendation.
