Malawi Coffee Overview
The Republic of Malawi is a landlocked country located in southeastern Africa, bordered to the north by Tanzania, to the west by Zambia, and separated by Lake Malawi (Africa's third-largest lake) from Mozambique to the east. Malawi has a population of approximately 12.5 million people. The Malawi Geisha variety is primarily cultivated in the high-altitude Misuku region.
Malawi is situated in southeastern Africa as a landlocked country without coastline. The northern to central eastern regions adjacent to Tanzania form a vast natural boundary along Lake Malawi—a lake that even extends to the border with Mozambique. The western neighboring country is Zambia. Malawi's central and southern regions, extending from the east all the way to the west, border Mozambique.
Malawi is also a member of the Eastern Africa Fine Coffees Association (EAFCA). At the annual SCAA exhibitions and European SCAE exhibitions, the Eastern Africa Fine Coffees Association sets up booths to promote their products, gradually gaining exposure and recognition.
