Malawi Coffee Overview

The Republic of Malawi is a landlocked country in southeastern Africa, bordered to the north by Tanzania, to the west by Zambia, and separated by Lake Malawi — Africa's third-largest lake — from Mozambique to the east. Malawi has a population of approximately 12.5 million people. The Malawi Geisha variety is primarily cultivated in the high-altitude Misuku region.

Malawi sits in southeastern Africa as a landlocked country without a coastline. Its northern-to-central-eastern regions, next to Tanzania, form a vast natural boundary along Lake Malawi — a lake that even extends to the border with Mozambique. Its western neighbour is Zambia. Malawi's central and southern regions, stretching from east all the way to the west, border Mozambique.

Malawi is also a member of the Eastern Africa Fine Coffees Association (EAFCA). At the annual SCAA exhibitions and the European SCAE exhibitions, the association sets up booths to promote its products, gradually gaining exposure and recognition.
