Lluvia de Oro Estate is located approximately 45 kilometers east of the capital city, San Jose.

Lluvia de Oro Estate belongs to the Aquiares Estate and was established in 1918 by British immigrants from Jamaica. In 1971, three young university students from Nicaragua, El Salvador, and the United States decided to pool their resources to purchase this estate.

Among them, Mr. Alfonso Robelo, is still the general manager who directly manages the estate's operations today. The estate was named Lluvia de Oro, derived from a type of orchid that thrives in the region where the estate is situated. This orchid variety produces beautiful golden-yellow flowers, and when in full bloom, its delicate petals resemble scattered golden rain, hence the name. Lluvia de Oro literally translates to "Golden Rain."
