Boquete, Panama, is located in the Chiriqui province bordering Costa Rica and is the renowned origin of Panama's famous Geisha coffee, celebrated worldwide for producing high-quality Arabica coffee. The Renowned Boquete Region
Panama coffee is famous for the Geisha from Hacienda La Esmeralda, and the region where this estate is located is also quite famous; it's the Boquete production area in the Chiriqui province. Boquete is a town in Chiriqui province, situated near the border between Panama and Costa Rica, close to the famous Baru Volcano. With its beautiful scenery, fertile and rich soil, and climate and terrain perfectly suited for producing premium coffee, Boquete stands as an ideal coffee-growing region.
Within the Boquete region are distributed many excellent estates. Besides the famous Hacienda La Esmeralda, there are other renowned estates like Elida Estate and Kotowa Estate, all producing high-quality specialty coffee. This is not only due to the superior ecological conditions of Panama's Boquete region and the fertile volcanic ash soil of the Baru volcano area, but also to another important factor: the microclimate possessed by the highlands of Boquete is a unique resource for specialty coffee in the region. This is because Panama's east-to-west environment allows cold air currents to converge above 6,500 feet through the central mountains, creating various microclimates in the Boquete area. The temperature and rainfall are perfectly suitable for plant growth, making coffee trees planted here grow exceptionally well.
However, in such a得天独厚的 (blessed) growing environment as Boquete, there naturally wouldn't be only one coffee king like Hacienda La Esmeralda's Geisha, regardless of flavor quality and value. But drinking Geisha every day I think is still quite luxurious, and even if there's no economic pressure, eating like shark's fin and bear's paw every day isn't quite right either. Coffee is the same - the broader your exploration, the more you can enjoy the pleasure of tasting coffee.

Brewing Instructions
Hand-pour the "Floral Butterfly." Using 15g of coffee, medium grind (using Fuji's ghost tooth grinder #4), V60 dripper, water temperature 88-89°C. First pour 30g of water and let it bloom for 27 seconds. Continue pouring until reaching 105g, then pause and wait until the water level in the coffee bed drops to half before continuing the pour. Slowly pour until reaching 225g total. Avoid the tail section. Water-to-coffee ratio is 1:15, extraction time 2:00.

It possesses 40% premium Geisha heritage, composed of three varieties: Geisha, Caturra, and Catuai. It's grown in the Baru Volcano region of Boquete, at an altitude of 1,600 meters in the volcanic area. The processing plant uses refined washed processing, and Panama's special microclimate leads to abundant rainfall in this region, along with significant day-night temperature differences. Combined with the unique volcanic rock soil of the volcanic area, as well as meticulous harvesting and refined processing, this coffee performs exceptionally well in terms of body, acidity, and floral aroma.

What's even more surprising is that on top of its excellent quality, a very approachable price makes this coffee bean's cost-performance explode. The special feature of this coffee bean is that it's composed of three varieties, with 40% being Geisha variety, giving this coffee a very obvious Geisha flavor. According to research data, due to the estate's historical reasons, in pursuit of yield at that time, early Geisha varieties were mixed and planted together with Caturra and Catuai variety coffee trees. For easier harvesting, coffee farmers didn't reclassify them but directly mixed and processed all three varieties together. Later, after Geisha became famous overnight and prices soared, the processing plant began to apply refined washed processing to such coffee beans.
Washed Processing Method
There are many washed processing methods today, but generally, after coffee cherries are harvested, floating beans are removed, then the pulp is removed, and the coffee beans are soaked in fermentation tanks. The enzymes in the water soften the mucilage attached to the coffee bean's inner parchment, while natural yeast breaks down the sugars in the mucilage. This process is called fermentation. After fermentation is complete, the coffee beans are moved to drying patios to dry. During the drying process, coffee beans need to be constantly turned to ensure even drying. Finally, they're stored with parchment in warehouses, and after green bean merchants place orders, the hulling and bagging process is performed. Coffee processed this way has a clean taste, emphasizing bright and lively fruit acidity, as well as clear fruit flavors and floral aromas.
