Coffee enriches our lives. This aromatic liquid, carrying notes of creaminess, sweetness, and bitterness, provides people leading busy work lives with a perfect excuse to release their stress and find warmth. Drinking coffee is becoming an increasingly popular leisure activity for white-collar professionals pursuing freedom and refined taste. The abundance of chain coffee shops and unique cafés on our streets demonstrates that more and more people are viewing coffee as an integral part of their lives. However, instant coffee no longer satisfies people's demands, and specialty coffees filled with rich sentiment have quickly filled this gap, becoming wonderful companions during leisure time. For coffee lovers, specialty coffee represents a higher level of sensory and visual enjoyment—it's a distinctive coffee art form.

Specialty coffee is essentially coffee made by mixing ground coffee with frothed milk. It's often associated with romance and warmth, bringing joy to the heart and delight to the palate. So, would you like to learn how to make specialty coffee? It's actually quite simple, and I'll explain the process in detail.

Step 1: Grinding Coffee Beans

Use a coffee grinder to grind coffee beans into powder. When grinding coffee beans, it's important to minimize friction heat as much as possible. Don't grind too many beans at once—just enough for one use. The longer a grinder runs, the more heat it generates, which can cause the coffee beans to heat up during grinding and release their aroma prematurely, affecting the flavor of the brewed coffee. If you're using a manual coffee grinder, rotate the handle gently and try to avoid generating friction heat.

Step 2: Brewing Coffee

Coffee brewing pots mainly fall into two categories: those that require heating, such as siphon pots and Royal Belgian coffee pots, and those that don't require heating, like French press pots and manual pour-over brewers. Regardless of which type of coffee pot you use, always remember not to wait too long after brewing before drinking, as the coffee's temperature will drop and its flavor will deteriorate.

Step 3: Milk Frothing

Pour milk into a milk frother, filling it no more than halfway, otherwise the milk might overflow when frothing due to expansion. Put on the lid and filter, then pump the filter rapidly to press air into the milk. You don't need to press all the way down, and about thirty gentle pumps will suffice—start with rapid movements then slow down. Remove the lid and filter, and you'll be left with dense milk foam. Let it rest for about a minute and a half, then shake it up and down two or three times to burst larger bubbles, creating the perfect milk foam for latte art.

Step 4: Mixing and Latte Art

This step involves mixing the brewed coffee with frothed milk, also known as latte art. First, pour the brewed coffee into a coffee cup. Second, while the frothed milk hasn't yet separated into milk and foam, quickly pour it directly into the coffee cup. Once the milk, foam, and coffee have reached a certain saturation, use hand movement techniques to create various patterns.

And there you have it—a fragrant, delicious specialty coffee, perfect for enjoying at home or serving to guests with both style and sophistication.
