What's Happening! Bugs Found Again in Luckin Coffee Beverages! This Time They're Moving Maggots?!! yue~🤯

Recently, a netizen posted a video on social media claiming: "I found two moving maggots in a coffee beverage purchased from Luckin. By the time I discovered the insects, I had already drunk more than half of the beverage." Subsequently, she contacted the merchant, and the Luckin store's proposed solution was three beverage vouchers, but the customer did not accept this solution and rejected it!

After this incident was exposed, related topics on social media such as #CustomerReportsMaggotsMovingInLuckinCoffee# and #StoreRespondsToMaggotsInLuckinCoffee# attracted significant attention from netizens!

According to reports from multiple media outlets, the person in charge of the involved store stated: "We have reviewed the surveillance footage of coffee preparation, and there were no issues with operations or material storage. Currently, the source of the insects remains unclear. We are also in communication with the customer. If the customer wishes to pursue further action, we will assist in reporting to the company's customer service."

Incident Details

From the video posted by this customer, we can generally understand what happened. Initially, she purchased a cup of Meteor Series coffee from Luckin, and the staff provided her with a thin straw. After drinking more than half, she wanted to eat the small ingredients inside but found that the straw couldn't suck up the "meteors" in the coffee, so she opened the lid. Unexpectedly, when she opened the lid, she actually saw maggots inside - alive and moving! And not just one!

The screenshot below is the follow-up provided by the reporting consumer the next day ⬇️

She stated: "Throughout the entire negotiation process, the owner never said sorry, not a single word of apology. It was always the consumer initiating negotiations with the merchant, etc..."

Public Reaction

Below the most popular related video, many netizens expressed shock or disbelief. Some commented: "I work part-time at Luckin, and it's extremely clean there. Hygiene standards are particularly strict, they make you wash your hands until they're raw," "This shouldn't happen, Luckin's hygiene definitely beats others in the industry," "It seems like someone is trying to target Luckin recently," "I feel the possibility of having insects in coffee is quite low"...

Image

Other netizens expressed confusion: "Can you even see these small maggots on surveillance footage?!" Some also said: "In this season, food can easily spoil if not handled carefully, attracting insects and maggots." Another netizen shared their own experience, stating: "The first time I drank Luckin, I also found insects. The store also said their operations were fine, and in the end, they offered me vouchers as compensation"...

Previous Incidents

It's worth mentioning! Last September, Luckin was also exposed for having maggots in their beverages, with as many as 10+ insects! As a result, the involved Luckin store voluntarily closed for two weeks for disinfection and pest control!!!

Going back further, last June, Luckin also made headlines on Weibo's trending list due to the search term #WomanFindsInsectsInCoffeeCustomerServiceOffersVoucherCompensation#. The victim discovered insects in her beverage, reported it to customer service, and the other party offered compensation of five beverage vouchers. Feeling this was inappropriate, she filed a complaint with the 12315 hotline.

Industry Perspective

It's not just Luckin; in fact, the entire beverage industry has countless similar hygiene incidents. In any case, there has always been a well-said phrase: "Food safety and hygiene must always be placed first in the catering industry for a company to become a true 'winner'!" (ennn~ Yes, that's correct~)

Current Status

Regarding the incident mentioned at the beginning of the article, according to reports from The Paper, this consumer stated that as of this morning, she still hasn't received further communication from Luckin's official team. The Paper contacted the involved store, and the staff stated: "Today, we have submitted the relevant evidence to the local market supervision bureau as requested. The matter is still under negotiation."
