Huawei's Alleged Coffee Shop Investment

About a week ago, multiple media outlets reported that Huawei had recently exclusively invested in a coffee shop.

On February 8th, the official WeChat account of Jiangsu Bage'ai Coffee Management Co., Ltd. announced that it had recently received an angel round financing of tens of millions of RMB, exclusively invested by Huawei, with Zhongyue Chrysanthemum E-commerce serving as the financial advisor.

Coffee Workshop also published related articles. The next day, a media affairs department contacted to state that this investment had nothing to do with Huawei company, but was rather the personal action of an individual named "Former Huawei."

After the announcement on February 8th, multiple media outlets reported on it, but quickly deleted their articles. However, on February 13th, Bage'ai Coffee Management Co., Ltd. still published articles claiming "Huawei's exclusive investment" without mentioning that it was "Former Huawei's personal exclusive investment."

The discussion about this incident not only failed to cease but actually drew more people into the conversation due to its involvement with Huawei's investment.

Public Apology and Clarification

On February 15th, Bage'ai Coffee Management Co., Ltd. issued an apology through their official WeChat account, stating that their previous publications repeatedly mentioned "Huawei," "hw," "Huawei's sole investment," "Huawei's managing partner," and "hw's exclusive investment," along with comments on Bage'ai's business or technology and recognition of Bage'ai, which were false advertising and purely fabricated facts.

They clarified that the aforementioned matters had no connection or relationship with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei Company"), and apologized for causing public misunderstanding, infringing upon Huawei Company's legitimate rights and interests, and creating adverse effects on Huawei Company's brand, reputation, and legitimate rights and interests. They also guaranteed not to engage in any false publicity related to Huawei Company or any behavior that infringes upon Huawei Company's legitimate rights and interests in the future.
