Recently, according to the foreign outlet HITC, a post about a customer who poured coffee directly onto the floor in anger after a Starbucks employee in Canada refused their request to buy only empty cups has gone viral on social media.

The post stated that the customer simply wanted to buy an empty cup, but was told by staff that an empty cup had to come with a coffee purchase. The customer then bought two coffees, got the cups they wanted, and, out of dissatisfaction, poured the purchased coffee straight onto the floor, keeping only the cups.

According to the report, the post has already received over 95,500 likes and more than 2.3 million views on foreign social media, along with thousands of comments. The netizens commenting below had differing opinions on the matter.

Some netizens said: "I work at a coffee shop and we often provide empty cups when customers need them, so Starbucks doesn't allow buying just cups? They feel they shouldn't have to buy a coffee just to get an empty cup..." Others joked: "You actually wasted two coffees you had to pay for by pouring them on the ground."

Many netizens also understood the employee, saying: "The policy wasn't made by the employee, they're just following company rules. It looks like a mall, so why not ask at the food court instead?" Other netizens strongly condemned the customer: "I can't imagine what kind of reason such a person has to live their life."
