The first post office coffee shop in China officially opened in Xiamen on February 14th of this year. By February 16th, this event had gained widespread attention, trending on Weibo. As a giant in its industry within China, China Post naturally has its own popularity, attracting some people who want to franchise and operate a "Post Office Coffee" shop.

Due to the popularity of "Post Office Coffee Shop," more and more people want to franchise "Post Office Coffee." Some netizens directly commented under the "Post Office Coffee" Weibo account to inquire about franchising matters.

Searching "Post Office Coffee franchising" online reveals such links. Recently, many more units or individuals have been impersonating China Post, Xiamen Post, or Post Office Coffee to conduct fraudulent business activities.

Official Statement Against Fraudulent Activities

To prevent more victims from being deceived, official channels including China Post, Xiamen Post, and Post Office Coffee issued statements stating that Post Office Coffee currently only has company-owned stores and has not opened a franchising model. The franchising information appearing online is false. The relevant companies will reserve the right to pursue legal responsibilities for unauthorized fraudulent business activities conducted by units and individuals on the internet.

Authentic vs. Counterfeit Issues

Such incidents of authentic versus counterfeit businesses occur from time to time. China Post's first Post Office Coffee only opened in Xiamen, Fujian a few days ago, but in the comment sections of articles related to Coffee Workshop, there appeared comments dating back even earlier than 2022. According to the messages, they even use the same logo. Whether these are "authentic" or "counterfeit" remains unknown.

Similar false franchising information allows lawbreakers to profit handsomely, while franchisees and consumers suffer the consequences. In recent days, many people may recall the incident where a milk tea brand spent 100 million yuan to combat counterfeits. When a brand's popularity rises, counterfeit brands will inevitably appear.

Trademark Issues

Meanwhile, Shanghai Zhongyu Kawa Management Consulting Co., Ltd., the partner that cooperated with China Post to open the Post Office Coffee Shop, submitted an application for trademark registration in the 43rd class at the end of September last year. Currently, the status of this trademark is "trademark invalid."
