In the past year, food safety issues in the bubble tea industry have occurred frequently. Several well-known chain brands have been exposed by netizens and media for various food safety problems, making consumers concerned about the hygiene standards in the modern tea beverage industry. HEYTEA, which had repeatedly been rumored to be going public, has hesitated to proceed, as investors have also become wary!

Food safety concerns in bubble tea industry

Although some brands immediately make corrections and apologize to the public when problems arise, promising to be more careful in the future, similar incidents continue to occur, sometimes even more severe. This has led consumers to form the same opinion about the industry: They claim they'll make changes, but their supervision of store hygiene remains inadequate!

To "reassure" everyone and demonstrate that not all brands fail to follow through, HEYTEA posted this message on its official WeChat account at noon today: "Officially Announcing: This is the November Food Safety Action Report." The first sentence in the report reads: "We are continuously optimizing our food quality and safety management system, improving comprehensive food quality and safety control measures throughout the entire chain." In other words, they're telling everyone: We're really taking action! It's not just empty talk!

HEYTEA Food Safety Action Report

The report clearly identifies problems discovered during HEYTEA's self-inspections of nationwide stores in November and how they were handled. Eight stores had varying degrees of food safety issues, such as mixing food-contact tools with non-food-contact tools, blackened refrigerator seals, uncovered juice bottles after opening, rusty tools, and unturned fly lights. The report states that upon discovering these problems, stores immediately implemented corrective measures.

In addition to these issues, HEYTEA explained in this report that all stores nationwide hire professional pest control companies for comprehensive disinfection monthly. The targets include various types of mosquitoes, cockroaches, rats, and other pests. The report also clarifies that all stores confirm water and ice quality meets standards before beginning daily operations, and in November, they engaged authoritative third-party professional organizations to conduct random water and ice quality inspections in 39 cities according to plan.

HEYTEA's "voluntary disclosure" approach has earned thumbs up from many consumers. Compared to those who simply say "I'm sorry, I'll be more careful next time," HEYTEA has indeed strengthened its management and further ensured consumer safety.

December has begun, and it likely won't be long before we see other modern tea beverage chain brands release their "Year-End Safety Reports."
