New Coffee Bean Creative Product Watch with Roast Level Color Dial
Coffee You Can Wear
If coffee can be drunk, worn, and walked on, then why can't it be worn on your wrist?
Have you ever imagined wearable coffee? Coffee isn't just for drinking—it can also be used to make watches!
A watchmaking company from St. Louis, USA, named Jord, has collaborated with Kaldi's Coffee to launch a limited edition watch. This watch features Kaldi's Coffee's goat logo printed on its dial.
Looking at the image above, it might be difficult to see what makes this watch unique.
This watch contains coffee beans that have been processed for 96 hours.
According to Jord's official website, they embed coffee beans into the watch. The coffee beans are roasted before processing, then injected with resin to stabilize their structure, transforming the coffee beans into wearable art pieces.
The website introduces this as their proprietary RIST technology (Resin-Infusion Stabilization Technology). Because the substances and structure inside coffee beans change over time, Jord immerses the coffee beans in activated resin, followed by drying, cooling, and hardening, with the entire process conducted in a vacuum environment. Finally, the soaked, dried, and hardened coffee beans are placed in a resin mold and processed under high pressure.
After RIST technology processing, transparent resin encases the watch head, with coffee beans suspended within the resin, followed by manual polishing. The final product allows you to clearly see every coffee bean inside the watch dial.
If you thought that was all the coffee elements this watch has to offer, you'd be greatly mistaken. If you carefully observe this watch's dial, you'll notice six lines of different colors between the dial numbers. These six colored lines represent the different color changes that coffee beans undergo during the roasting process—from the initial green gradually transitioning to the final city roast color or even French roast color.
In addition to the two coffee elements mentioned above, this watch's strap is also remarkably textured. The strap is made from cork and plain leather, featuring rich colors and distinct texture patterns. The cork used for making the strap is also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
Pricing and Availability
This limited edition Barista Coffee Watch has a dial width of 40 millimeters and is priced individually at $174 (approximately 1126.5 RMB).
Their gift box set offers even better value. In addition to the watch, the gift box includes a coffee canister, a 14oz stainless steel thermos, and a 6oz bag of Kaldi's espresso blend beans. The set is priced at only $194 (approximately 1256 RMB).
Unlike some coffee-derived products found previously, many require you to pay for shipping yourself. This watch, however, is very user-friendly—completely free shipping!
As mentioned earlier, this watch is a limited edition, and the JORD website thoughtfully reminds buyers of the available quantities. As of 4:00 PM on July 12, 2021, only 5 gift box sets and 14 individually sold watches remained.
The Ever-Expanding World of Coffee Merchandise
Coffee merchandise always brings delightful surprises—coffee can be made into shoes, clothes, lampshades, tables, chairs, and even straws. Now it can even be made into watches. It seems another item has been added to the dream coffee collection series!
Coffee, saikō!
