Coffee can be drunk, worn and walked on - so why not wear it on your wrist as well?

Have you ever imagined wearable coffee? Coffee is not only for drinking; it can also be used to make watches.

A watchmaking company from St. Louis, USA, called Jord, has teamed up with Kaldi's Coffee to launch a limited edition watch. It features Kaldi's Coffee's goat logo printed on the dial.

Looking at the image above, it can be hard to see what makes this watch unusual.

The answer: it contains coffee beans that have been processed for 96 hours.

According to Jord's official website, the company embeds coffee beans into the watch. The beans are roasted before processing, then injected with resin to stabilize their structure, turning them into wearable art.

The website describes this as its proprietary RIST technology (Resin-Infusion Stabilization Technology). Because the substances and structure inside coffee beans change over time, Jord immerses the beans in activated resin, then dries, cools and hardens them, with the entire process carried out in a vacuum. Finally, the soaked, dried and hardened beans are placed in a resin mold and processed under high pressure.

After RIST processing, transparent resin encases the watch head with the coffee beans suspended inside, after which the piece is polished by hand. The finished product lets you see every coffee bean clearly inside the dial.

If you thought that was all the coffee elements this watch has to offer, you would be greatly mistaken. Look closely at the dial and you will notice six lines of different colors between the hour markers. These six colored lines represent the color changes coffee beans go through during roasting, from the initial green gradually shifting to the final city roast color or even French roast color.

Beyond those two coffee elements, the strap is remarkably textured too. It is made from cork and plain leather, with rich colors and distinct grain patterns. The cork used for the strap is also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

Pricing and Availability

This limited edition Barista Coffee Watch has a dial width of 40 millimeters and is priced at $174 (approximately 1126.5 RMB) for the watch alone.

The gift box set offers even better value. Alongside the watch, it includes a coffee canister, a 14oz stainless steel thermos and a 6oz bag of Kaldi's espresso blend beans, all for only $194 (approximately 1256 RMB).

Unlike some coffee-derived products covered before, which often ask you to pay shipping yourself, this watch is very user-friendly: shipping is completely free.

As mentioned, the watch is a limited edition, and the JORD website thoughtfully reminds buyers how many units remain. As of 4:00 PM on July 12, 2021, only 5 gift box sets and 14 individually sold watches were left.
