Price Inconsistencies and Store Classifications

Previously, some media reported that Luckin Coffee's products had quietly increased by one yuan, and that pickup prices for Luckin beverages were more expensive than delivery prices.

According to the IQ Tax Research Center's public account, on April 24th this year, the IQ Tax Research Center discovered that when ordering from the same store at the same time, pickup was actually more expensive than delivery!

The reason it was more expensive was because delivery requires paying delivery fees to couriers, so the price is lower.

The IQ Tax Research Center also listed on its public account two stores - Guangyao Oriental Center Store and Century Trade Building Store, both located in Haidian District, Beijing - where the same Matcha Ruicha Ice product was sold at different prices.

The Matcha Ruicha Ice at the Guangyao Oriental Center Luckin store was priced at 18 yuan, while the same product at the Century Trade Building Luckin store was priced at 20 yuan.

Additionally, when searching through the Dianping platform, the two stores also had different prices for Vanilla Latte beverages.

Then on May 18th, the researcher placed another order and discovered that Luckin Coffee had increased prices by another yuan!

Subsequently, they contacted Luckin customer service to verify this issue.

Luckin customer service explained that because delivery requires paying delivery fees to couriers, the price is slightly cheaper.

As for why two Luckin stores less than 500 meters apart had different prices, a staff member at a Luckin Coffee near Hangtian Bridge stated: "Luckin stores are classified as first-tier and second-tier stores. Our store is a second-tier store, while several nearby stores are first-tier stores. Therefore, we are one to two yuan more expensive than nearby stores."

Regarding the price increase of Luckin beverages, the employee said: "Because some people cannot accept our current pricing at second-tier stores, our store is serving as a pilot location, raising prices first to see customer reactions. If they can accept it, we will gradually increase prices later. Nearby Luckin stores will also follow with price increases, eventually matching ours.
