According to Xinhua News Agency: As of the week ending April 11, the Yunnan coffee price index rebounded slightly, with average prices of premium Grade III, high-quality, commercial Grade I, and commercial Grade II coffee beans increasing. On April 9, the index was reported at 1354.68 points, up 6.96 points from the previous period (March 29-April 4, 2021), an increase of 0.52%.

ICE Exchange Coffee Prices

Arabica and Robusta coffee futures prices fluctuated. On April 9, ICE New York Exchange Arabica coffee May/21 contract closed at 127.25 cents/pound, up 5.65 cents/pound from April 2, an increase of 4.65%; ICE London Exchange Robusta coffee May/21 contract closed at $1,343.00/ton, up $18.00/ton from April 1, an increase of 1.36%.

Specific Prices of Yunnan Coffee Beans by Grade

Premium Grade II coffee beans averaged 53.50 yuan/kg, down 0.07 yuan/kg from the previous period, a decrease of 0.13%;

Premium Grade III coffee beans averaged 35.95 yuan/kg, up 0.02 yuan/kg from the previous period, an increase of 0.06%;

High-quality coffee beans averaged 24.46 yuan/kg, up 0.12 yuan/kg from the previous period, an increase of 0.49%;

Commercial Grade I coffee beans averaged 23.27 yuan/kg, up 0.07 yuan/kg from the previous period, an increase of 0.30%;

Commercial Grade II coffee beans averaged 18.07 yuan/kg, up 0.32 yuan/kg from the previous period, an increase of 1.80%; Commercial Grade III and below coffee beans averaged 12.42 yuan/kg, unchanged from the previous period.

Yunnan Coffee Bean Supplier Situation

The Yunnan coffee harvest has basically ended, but with rising prices, coffee trading is sporadic. Currently, Yunnan coffee beans on the market are mainly stored in parchment form, and suppliers will decide whether to process and sell Yunnan green coffee beans based on market conditions. Although prices rose during the week of April 11, they have not yet reached psychological expectations, so suppliers are mostly holding goods and waiting for better prices.

The number of purchasers making inquiries is average, and facing the current high-price market, everyone maintains a relatively cautious purchasing attitude, so actual Yunnan coffee transactions are currently limited.
