Yunnan Arabica Coffee Price Index Slightly Adjusted Upward, Yunnan Coffee Bean Prices Show Rising Trend

According to Xinhua News Agency: as of the week ending April 11, the Yunnan coffee price index rebounded slightly, with average prices of premium Grade III, high-quality, commercial Grade I and commercial Grade II coffee beans all increasing. On April 9, the index was reported at 1354.68 points, up 6.96 points from the previous period (March 29-April 4, 2021), an increase of 0.52%.

ICE Exchange Coffee Prices

Arabica and Robusta coffee futures prices fluctuated. On April 9, the ICE New York Exchange Arabica coffee May/21 contract closed at 127.25 cents/pound, up 5.65 cents/pound from April 2, an increase of 4.65%; the ICE London Exchange Robusta coffee May/21 contract closed at $1,343.00/ton, up $18.00/ton from April 1, an increase of 1.36%.

Specific Prices of Yunnan Coffee Beans by Grade

Premium Grade II coffee beans averaged 53.50 yuan/kg, down 0.07 yuan/kg from the previous period, a decrease of 0.13%;

Premium Grade III coffee beans averaged 35.95 yuan/kg, up 0.02 yuan/kg from the previous period, an increase of 0.06%;

High-quality coffee beans averaged 24.46 yuan/kg, up 0.12 yuan/kg from the previous period, an increase of 0.49%;

Commercial Grade I coffee beans averaged 23.27 yuan/kg, up 0.07 yuan/kg from the previous period, an increase of 0.30%;

Commercial Grade II coffee beans averaged 18.07 yuan/kg, up 0.32 yuan/kg from the previous period, an increase of 1.80%; Commercial Grade III and below averaged 12.42 yuan/kg, unchanged from the previous period.

The Yunnan coffee harvest has basically ended, but with prices rising, trading is sporadic. Currently, Yunnan coffee beans on the market are mainly stored in parchment form, and suppliers will decide whether to process and sell Yunnan green coffee beans based on market conditions.
