According to data from a report published by the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) in December 2020, Uganda's total coffee exports in 2020 amounted to 5,492,525 bags (60kg per bag), valued at $515.94 million. In 2019, Uganda's total coffee exports were 4,519,563 bags, valued at $436.54 million. From the report data, we can see that Uganda's coffee exports in 2020 increased by 22% compared to 2019, with total value growing by 18%.

In December 2020, Uganda's coffee exports amounted to 422,922 bags, valued at $37.78 million. Of these, Robusta accounted for 375,209 bags (valued at $30.87 million), while Arabica accounted for 47,713 bags (valued at $6.92 million). Compared to the same period last year, export volume increased by 28.06%, with total value growing by 9.42%.

In December 2020, Uganda's Robusta exports accounted for 88.72% of the month's total exports, higher than the 86.50% share in November 2020. In terms of pricing, the average price in December was $1.37 per kilogram, the same as in November. Meanwhile, Arabica coffee beans had an average price of $2.42 per kilogram in December, 20 cents higher than the price in November 2020.

According to data from the Uganda Coffee Development Authority, Uganda's coffee exports in 2020 were the highest in history. The latest data provided by the authority shows a steady recovery in crops, with export volumes increasing from 3.557 million bags in fiscal year 2016 to 5.493 million bags in fiscal year 2020, representing an increase of approximately 64.7%. This marks the highest volume of coffee exports from Uganda in the past 30 years.

According to Ugandan regulatory authorities, the 2020 export growth was due to increased production as newly planted coffee trees began to bear fruit. Additionally, COVID-19 had minimal impact on Uganda, and many European countries did not impose significant restrictions on shipping from Uganda. Meanwhile, other coffee-producing countries were affected by COVID-19 to varying degrees, which also impacted their coffee bean exports. This created increased demand for Ugandan coffee in 2020, leading to continued growth in export volumes.
