FrontStreet Coffee - Typica Coffee Flavor Characteristics Description
Typica
Simply put, Typica is actually a subvariety of Arabica coffee. Typica is also an ancient coffee variety and one of the original species of coffee. The story of Typica comes from Sudan. It is said that the origin of Typica is from southern Sudan. When coffee cultivation in Ethiopia gradually flourished, Typica was cultivated in Yemen around the 7th century BC, where it was used for commercial production at that time.
The Typica variety initially grew on Martinique Island. In order to obtain more coffee yield from high-quality Typica varieties, Typica coffee varieties are usually cross-bred and hybridized with other species in some countries. The Typica coffee variety is famous for its sweetness.
Typica belongs to the Arabica variety, so it is also a delicate member. Unlike other coffee varieties, Typica coffee fruits are conical. Because Typica coffee has extremely high quality and excellent flavor, it is widely cultivated in countries around the world. Almost all world-renowned coffee estates plant Typica varieties. If the Typica variety is properly cultivated, the sweetness of the coffee will be quite high, with not only a pure taste but also a pleasant acidity.
A unique characteristic of Typica is its copper-red leaves, which is why it is called "red top coffee." The mature fruits of the Typica variety are red. This variety has relatively high requirements for altitude, relatively low yield, and extremely poor disease resistance. However, its excellent flavor and cupping quality still make the Typica variety popular worldwide.
In short: Everything is for sharing and spreading
