The Carmo de Minas region has long been renowned for high-quality coffee, especially the Yellow Bourbon variety. The circular motif on the estate's emblem represents a bird's-eye view of diversified agriculture, since farmland here is often cultivated in circular, irrigated patterns; the circles also stand for family. In Carmo de Minas, the Cerrado estate is the birthplace of the Yellow Bourbon variety, a large family-run coffee farm with more than 100 years of history in producing and commercializing high-quality coffee.

The Cerrado estate is recognized as one of the first farms to plant coffee in Carmo de Minas, an area famous for growing Yellow Bourbon. After inheriting the farm, the couple José Isidoro Pereira and Nazareth Dias Pereira worked alongside their descendants to establish high-quality coffee on the steep hillsides.

They also passed the family's traditions and way of life down to their children and grandchildren. Today those descendants take part in running the business, from roasting and importing and exporting green coffee to operating coffee shops. That deep history has shaped a wonderfully distinctive flavor profile: each cup shows bright, delicate, and elegant sweetness, a clear expression of the bond between family tradition and the celebrated Yellow Bourbon variety.

At a medium roast it pours out rich aromas of creamy peanut, toasted bread, caramel, and hazelnut, with a round, smooth body, almost no acidity, and a faint bittersweet edge. It is just as comfortable in a pour-over as it is in a moka pot, an espresso SOE, a siphon, or a French press.
