Yellow Bourbon, which ripens to yellow fruit, was first discovered in Brazil and today grows mainly there. It is generally thought to be a mutation resulting from the crossing of the red-fruited Bourbon variety with a yellow-fruited Typica variant known as "Amerelo de Botocatu."
