Estate Overview and Awards

Nossa Senhora da Luz Estate is located in Minas Gerais, Brazil's most productive region for specialty coffee. In 2013, the coffee grown at Nossa Senhora da Luz Estate scored 92.22 points, becoming the champion of Brazil's COE (Cup of Excellence) late harvest season with the highest score.

The owners of Nossa Senhora da Luz Estate are the couple Regina Lucia and Edmo Villela. Their sons Cinthia, Tatina, Claudia, and Rnoney Dias Villela currently manage the estate. The fourth generation has now begun to enter the coffee cultivation industry.

Bourbon is a branch of Arabica. Bourbon includes red bourbon, yellow bourbon, pink bourbon, and orange bourbon. There is also the rare pointed bourbon with extremely low yield rarely seen on the market. Among these, yellow bourbon turns yellow when the fruit ripens, unlike typical coffee fruits which turn red when mature. Yellow bourbon has high sweetness and is suitable for both light and dark roasting. In recent years, yellow bourbon varieties have frequently placed in the top three of COE competitions, attracting remarkable attention.

It achieves a high cupping score of 87. With flavors of tropical fruits, passion fruit, jackfruit, cantaloupe, cherry, and red berries, it has medium to high body with a guava and red wine aftertaste.

This Brazil Nossa Senhora da Luz is especially suitable for those who enjoy full body and sweetness. Although Brazil produces large quantities of coffee, high-quality Brazilian beans that both possess Brazilian regional characteristics and are clean are quite rare.
