Colombia's Premium Coffee Region

Most of Colombia's specialty coffee comes from the southern producing regions, among which the Huila department is located in the southern part of the central mountain range within Colombia. It is Colombia's best and most representative specialty coffee production area, and its specialty coffees are frequent winners in international cupping competitions.

The frequent volcanic activity near the Huila producing region is related to the fertile volcanic ash eruptions. Therefore, Huila has excellent geographical and climatic conditions for growing coffee. This region features valleys surrounded by the snow-capped Andes Mountains and centuries of rich volcanic ash soil, which cultivates the highest quality Colombian coffee.

The specialty coffee varieties produced in Huila are mostly Caturra and Typica. They have distinct fruity acidity and sweetness, with complete, full beans and low defect rates. They are also suitable for various roasting levels and can exhibit excellent charming performance at each level, with each roasting degree showcasing sweet flavors. Among them, I believe the medium/medium-dark roast flavors are particularly superior. They offer a balanced, rich mouthfeel with layered aromas of nuts and citrus. It's well worth tasting and trying the various roast flavors, making it a quality choice for both single origin and specialty blends.

Pink Bourbon Variety

Pink Bourbon is an extremely rare variety, cultivated through hybridization of Red Bourbon and Yellow Bourbon. When the coffee cherries mature, they display a romantic pink color. Due to genetic factors and harvesting difficulties, it is very difficult to maintain stable production.

Knowledge Point: Bourbon is a variety of coffee tree, belonging to a branch of the Arabica species. It is named according to the color of the coffee fruit when mature, such as red, yellow, orange, and pink Bourbon. Among these, orange Bourbon has lower production, while Pink Bourbon has extremely limited production.
