FrontStreet Coffee - Premium Coffee Yirgacheffe Natural Banko Gotiti Introduction

Generally, Arabica is mainly used for single-origin or specialty coffee, while Robusta is used to make instant coffee. Although Arabica can be defined as premium coffee, it is a representative variety originating from Ethiopia and is also produced in South Africa, African countries, and Asian nations, accounting for 70%-75% of global coffee production. Arabica has weaker resistance to pests and diseases, making highland areas more suitable for cultivation, especially Arabica coffee beans grown above 1,500 meters, which have the best quality.

Common specialty coffee varieties include: Typica, Bourbon, Catuai, Caturra, Geisha, etc.

When mentioning Yirgacheffe, we must first introduce the regional division method here. Under ECX's regional classification system, Yirgacheffe can be mainly divided into four regions - Wenago, Yirgacheffe, Kochere, and Gelana Abaya. In terms of administrative regions, the Kochere region covers two Woredas - Kochere in the west and Gedeb in the east. In recent years, Gedeb has often been independently established as a micro-region, and the Banko Gotiti Cooperative is located in the Worka Kebele within Gedeb at the southern end of Yirgacheffe.
