Among these, Brazil is the largest coffee-producing country in Central and South America, and the world's foremost coffee producer.

Brazilian Coffee Regions:

Minas Gerais

Located in the southern part of the country, Minas Gerais is the largest coffee-producing state in Brazil, with almost all of its coffee being of the Arabica variety. The state has four major producing regions: Sul de Minas (South Minas), Cerrado de Minas, Chapada de Minas, and Matas de Minas.

São Paulo

A traditional coffee-producing area in Brazil, this state has two main regions: Mogiana, which has high altitudes and excellent specialty coffee plantations, and Centro-Oeste Paulista (Center-West of São Paulo), which features both traditional large-scale mechanically harvested coffee plantations and small farms. The famous Port of Santos is located in São Paulo state, through which two-thirds of Brazil's green beans are exported.

Espírito Santo

Located in the southern part of the country, Espírito Santo is one of Brazil's major coffee-producing states, with almost all of its coffee being of the Arabica variety. The state has four major producing regions: Sul de Minas (South Minas), Cerrado de Minas, Chapada de Minas, and Matas de Minas.

Bahia

Located in northeastern Brazil, Bahia has a generally hotter climate and two main Arabica-producing regions: Planalto da Bahia (Bahia Plateau) and Cerrado da Bahia. However, there are excellent specialty coffees grown in the high-altitude Chapada Diamantina region. The southern part of the state also produces Robusta varieties.

Paraná

Previously Brazil's largest coffee-producing region, located in the south, Paraná's coffee production has declined from its former levels but is gradually recovering its coffee cultivation area. Due to its cooler climate, only Arabica varieties are grown here, mostly using the pulped natural processing method.

Rondônia

Located in the northern part of the country, Rondônia produces Robusta coffee, yielding approximately 20,000 bags annually.

Knowledge Expansion:

The regions suitable for coffee cultivation in Brazil generally have flat terrain, with most coffee plantations situated below 1,200 meters altitude and without large shade trees. Because ripe and unripe berries are harvested simultaneously during picking, these coffees are not typically considered specialty coffees.
