Los Pirineos
The name Los Pirineos comes from the Pyrenees mountains on the French-Spanish border. The farm is located in the Tecapa volcanic region in southeastern El Salvador, reminiscent of the Pyrenees mountains.
This Bourbon variety comes from the farm at the highest altitude of the Tecapa volcano and has a refreshing acidity. Gilberto Baraona has been the owner of the farm since 1890. He has planted many different varieties on the farm, with the current main focus being Pacamara and Typica imported from Guatemala in 1890, as well as heirloom Bourbon (also known as Bourbon Elite). The Bourbon Elite variety has been used to develop newer Bourbon varieties in El Salvador (called Teknik). Compared to the farm's newer Tekisik, Bourbon Elite performs quite well in sweetness, with more intense fruit-toned flavors.
Naranjo
Naranjo means orange grove in Spanish and is located in the town of Apaneca, Ahuachapán Province, El Salvador, near the APANECA-ILAMATEPEC mountain range. The highest peak of this mountain range, Santa Ana Volcano, is an active volcano. Although volcanic eruptions have a huge impact on coffee production, the volcanic ash coverage makes the soil quite fertile, making it the largest coffee-producing area in El Salvador. Coffee from this region frequently wins awards, and the quality of coffee grown there has received widespread acclaim, gradually building its reputation.
