The Republic of Malawi is a landlocked country in southeastern Africa, bordered by Tanzania to the north, Zambia to the west, and separated from Mozambique by Lake Malawi (Africa's third-largest lake) to the east. Among African nations, Malawi stands out as one of the most politically stable and one of the few untouched by civil war. In theory, a favorable natural environment and political stability should make for excellent economic conditions. Surprisingly, its GDP is only about $600 USD, which the United Nations assesses as the second-poorest country in the world. This is largely due to the impact of HIV/AIDS. According to 2003 data, the adult HIV infection rate reached 14.2%, meaning roughly 900,000 people were living with HIV/AIDS. Average life expectancy in Malawi is only 36.97 years. With a population of about 12.5 million, more than 90% live in underdeveloped rural areas. Coffee Production

Malawi Geisha varieties are primarily cultivated in the high-altitude Misuku region. Malawi has no coastline.
