Coffee Calorie Chart Americano Coffee for Weight Loss Americano Coffee Characteristics Flavor and Taste Americano Coffee Bean Story
FrontStreet Coffee believes that coffee itself is not high in calories, and Americano coffee indeed has weight-loss benefits. However, if you're accustomed to adding sugar and milk to your coffee, or even getting creative with cream, liqueur... then the calorie count becomes much more complicated! For example, the calories in one mocha equals those in a bowl of white rice. Therefore, FrontStreet Coffee thinks that if you want to maintain your weight or lose weight, you must know the following coffee calorie chart...
Americano Coffee = 20 Calories
Americano coffee with nothing added has extremely low calories. After diluting with water, it becomes the common Americano, containing only about 20 calories per cup, making it one of the most natural and low-calorie coffee options.
The ingredients for Americano coffee are very simple: only espresso and water. "Espresso," as the name suggests, comes from Italy in Europe. The development of espresso was aimed at increasing the speed of coffee making. Initially, espresso referred to a method of making coffee, where "espres" means "fast" - meaning a black coffee could be prepared in a very short time.
The rise of Americano coffee began in the 18th century. At that time, Americans were extremely dissatisfied with the British government's high import tariffs on tea, leading to the "Boston Tea Party" in 1773, and they advocated switching to coffee instead. Gradually, the number of coffee shops in America expanded continuously, promoting the vigorous development of the coffee industry in the United States. By the 1880s, about one-third of the world's coffee beans were sold to the United States. During World War II, Allied forces consumed large amounts of coffee daily to relieve monotonous life while also boosting morale for soldiers.
However, Italians were accustomed to drinking strong, concentrated espresso, which American soldiers couldn't get used to due to its intense bitterness. So they diluted the coffee liquid with water to reach a concentration they could accept. Later, in cafés opened by Italians in America, they also "adapted to local customs" by introducing "watered coffee" based on espresso, which became very popular. This "watered coffee" was later called "Americano."
What are the characteristics of Americano coffee?
Because no other ingredients like milk or sugar are added, Americano coffee better showcases the original flavor and aroma of coffee beans, while also putting more emphasis on the flavor and quality of the espresso.
FrontStreet Coffee uses its own roasted "Sunflower Warm Sunshine Blend," which combines 70% Honduras Sherry coffee with 30% Yirgacheffe Natural Red Cherry coffee. The whiskey, vanilla, and cream flavors of the Sherry, paired with the tropical fruit and fermentation notes of the red cherry, create a coffee with rich aroma and smooth texture.
When preparing Americano coffee, FrontStreet Coffee grinds the coffee beans and extracts espresso using a 1:2 coffee-to-liquid ratio, then dilutes it with water - that is, extracting 40g of coffee liquid from 20g of coffee grounds. Based on FrontStreet Coffee's extensive testing and formulation, a 1:6 ratio of coffee liquid to water is most suitable for expressing the Warm Sunshine blend's aroma, meaning 40g of coffee liquid is poured into 240g of 88°C hot water to complete the hot Americano.
For iced Americano coffee, the hot water is replaced with 120g of ice cubes and 120g of room temperature water, with the best taste achieved before the ice completely melts. FrontStreet Coffee's iced Americano presents a refreshing and pleasant sweet-tart flavor that even friends who don't often drink coffee can easily accept.
Why is Americano coffee so popular?
The reason Americano coffee is so popular is not only because of its moderate concentration and approachable taste, but drinking an appropriate cup daily also helps with digestion, relieving greasiness, and reducing body water retention. Additionally, due to its very low calorie count, it can boost metabolism, and drinking it an hour before exercise helps burn fat, making it one of the recommended beverages for many fitness enthusiasts. However, FrontStreet Coffee still needs to remind everyone that only pure Americano coffee has certain benefits. If you add syrup, condensed milk, or coffee creamer to Americano coffee, it will bring additional calories, and long-term consumption is not beneficial to our health.
Whether Americano is healthy is a long-standing global topic, but the current medical consensus is that moderate consumption of Americano coffee has no adverse health effects, does not increase the risk of certain cancers, and may even be beneficial to the body. FrontStreet Coffee suggests that no more than 3 cups of Americano coffee (or black coffee) per day is beneficial and harmless to the body, but this also depends on individual constitution. When we experience insomnia, gastrointestinal discomfort, or other issues after drinking coffee, we should not consume excessive amounts of caffeine.
