About Misty Valley
Grown in the Misty Valley, this coffee bean earned its beautiful name. In the town of Yirgacheffe in Ethiopia's Sidamo province, countless coffee trees are planted. Moving away from the natural processing method used in Sidamo a decade ago, Misty Valley farmers switched to the washed process for their coffee beans. This change in processing method brought widespread fame to Yirgacheffe. Today, Yirgacheffe is no longer just a geographical name but has become a well-known synonym for exceptional coffee beans.
According to local elders, despite FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe being world-famous for its washed processing method, the area still primarily uses traditional natural processing. This is because local residents believe that natural processing allows coffee beans to develop an indescribably exquisite flavor. Due to Yirgacheffe's fame, the country has incorporated the coffee brewing ceremony into banquets for honored guests. They don't mind whether the beans are whole or full, directly placing them in iron pans for roasting. At this moment, concerns about over-roasting—considered a major sin in coffee roasting—are unnecessary. Under this traditional and beautiful ceremony, even with beans of varying colors, they can still brew an unforgettable, wonderful flavor.
About Yirgacheffe
FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe grows in the Sidamo region of southwestern Ethiopia. The coffee beans are small to medium in size, with raw beans showing a pale yellow-green color and beautifully intact shapes. They hold a representative position among specialty coffees from East Africa.
Under the current ECX system, the Yirgacheffe area has been divided into four sub-regions: Yirgachefe, Wenago, Kochere, and Genlena abay. The soil here is fertile, with an average altitude of over 1800 meters, making it a high-altitude region with significant day-night temperature differences. The production methods of each region, combined with local unique heirloom coffee tree gardens, result in coffee batches with distinctly different flavors, each with remarkable characteristics and uniqueness.
FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe is a high-quality washed Arabica bean featuring unique and bright fruit sweetness and acidity. Upon first sip, you immediately sense the fresh, bright aroma. This distinctive FrontStreet Coffee Yirgacheffe, with its bold floral notes and lemon acidity, interprets coffee flavors perfectly through its rich layers. It also creates an illusion similar to tea when drinking. Therefore, many people say that FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe doesn't taste like coffee but rather like a soft, pleasant fruit tea. It can be both elegant and unrestrained, striking a precise balance between simplicity and complexity. It has been beautifully described by the Japanese as the queen of coffees.
Originally, FrontStreet Coffee's Yirgacheffe was famous and predominantly produced using the washed processing method. However, natural-processed Yirgacheffe has gained enthusiastic market acceptance due to its rich berry sweetness. Consequently, with the significant increase in demand, the production of natural-processed Yirgacheffe has also risen substantially.
