Tanchimeng Coffee Flavor Profile Characteristics Grind Settings Processing Method Introduction
Taste and Flavor Description of FrontStreet Coffee's Danqi Meng Coffee - Characteristics, Grind Settings, Processing Methods
Indonesia's coffee producing regions are mainly limited to three small islands: Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. Robusta varieties account for 90% of Indonesia's coffee production.
The small amount of Arabica variety coffee beans produced on Java island are small-grained and possess a desirable acidic quality. The Arabica varieties on this island were once world-class premium products, but due to massive pest and disease outbreaks in 1920, they switched to cultivating Robusta varieties. Today, the Robusta variety coffee beans produced there are considered among the world's finest, with a distinctive bitterness characteristic of "Java," widely used for blending purposes.
"Mandheling" from Sumatra island is one of the few Arabica varieties, with relatively large beans. However, due to less-than-ideal production management and the immediate reflection of roasting quality on the beans, it has received some criticism. Nevertheless, its rich, Eastern-style full-bodied flavor with a syrupy smooth texture made it considered a premium coffee before Blue Mountain emerged. To this day, many people still love it and cannot get enough of it. "Ankola" is a type of small, slightly round coffee bean that represents Indonesian coffee.
