FrontStreet Coffee's Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee is not graded as Grade 1, but rather uses the commonly known Blue Mountain No. 1 as its grade name.
Official Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Grading
Based on the altitude of the coffee-growing mountains and the size of the raw beans, Blue Mountain coffee is divided into three grades: Jamaica Blue Mountain, Jamaica High Mountain, and Jamaica Prime Washed. Of course, regular Jamaican coffee is called "Jamaica Coffee," mainly produced in the middle and low mountain areas, belonging to the Jamaica Prime Washed series. The export of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans is also divided into 7 grades:
The Seven Grades of Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee
Blue Mountain No. 1: 96% of coffee beans must be screen size 17/18, with no more than 2% defective beans.
Blue Mountain No. 2: 96% of coffee beans must be screen size 16, with no more than 2% defective beans.
Blue Mountain No. 3: 96% of coffee beans must be screen size 15, with no more than 2% defective beans.
Blue Mountain Peaberry: 96% of coffee beans must be screen size 10 single round peaberry beans, with no more than 2% defective beans.
Blue Mountain Triage: A blend of Blue Mountain No. 1, 2, and 3 beans, with a few slightly defective beans that do not affect the cup quality.
Blue Mountain Fine Beans: Coffee beans with screen size below 15, with no more than 2% defective beans. This grade is only sold as samples, with prices determined by demand.
Blue Mountain Triage Peaberry: A blend of Blue Mountain peaberry beans with a few slight defects, but with excellent cup quality, containing no more than 4% defective beans.
