You walk through the door and are greeted with a familiar welcome. You order a cup of coffee, and then...

"Come on, let's start a game!" Or maybe you just chat about daily life and share a bit of gossip.

Limitless

This community coffee shop, located near the Taicang Warehouse, has two floors. The small storefront fills you with warmth the moment you step inside.

Every corner is packed with neatly arranged decorative items, making you feel as comfortable as if you were in your own bedroom. The croissants in the small display window whet your appetite too.

In the little corner below the counter, books like Ten Crimes, Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio, and The Da Vinci Code are casually stacked. I suspect the owner is a fan of suspense and mystery novels — the kind of personality that enjoys reasoning, thinking things through, exploring novelty, and seeking a little excitement.

The shop offers quite a wide variety of single-origin coffees. Since I am hopeless at making decisions, I asked the owner to pick a bean for me. Thoughtfully, she asked about my flavor preferences before recommending a Yirgacheffe processed in sherry barrels.

First I smelled the freshly ground coffee. The dry fragrance carried a berry-like acidity, and after brewing the wet aroma turned strawberry-scented. At high temperature the flavor was muted, even a little plain — the owner suggested letting it cool slightly before tasting again.

Once it cooled, the front notes showed strawberry acidity with a hint of strawberry candy sweetness, and the middle notes brought a fusion of mandarin orange acidity and jasmine fragrance. Overall it was smooth with gentle acidity.

While I was sipping the pour over, a chubby little boy nicknamed "Huang Man Man" came running down from the second floor!

"Ah! He is SO cute!!!"

"Ah! I just want to pinch those soft, chubby cheeks!!!"

(The above was my most genuine first reaction at the time...)

Suppressing the urge to pinch his face, I grabbed the nearest cat teaser and had a little "duel" with the rascal instead.

When I walked in, I had noticed the shop makes quite a few creative drinks. True to form, I once again left the choice to the owner.

"I'll make you a Happy Americano!"

"Great! What makes it happy?"

"You'll find out in a moment! But you have to drink it quickly!"

I watched her put water and espresso into a cream whipper, work some magic, and pour out a full cup of Americano foam. You might be wondering where the "happy" part comes in. Shh! Patience!

The moment I saw that fluffy Americano foam, I smiled from ear to ear. Right away the owner said, "Look! You're smiling! I told you it was a Happy Americano!" Hearing that, I laughed out loud like a goose.

After stepping into Limitless, I truly felt a sense of belonging. There was no stiffness between people; the decorations and warm lighting created a cozy atmosphere, and the resident kitten's "patrol rounds" after its nap helped everyone who walked in relax.

A Small Note

Finally, one small note — don't rush off just yet!

Many people assume that "Limitless" and "PTN By Limitless" are related (I thought so too...).

It was only on this visit that I learned the two shops have completely different styles. Out of curiosity, I asked the barista:

"Are you connected to PTN in the Liuyun Community?"

"No! We're troubled by it too — so many people check in to PTN by mistake on our reviews...."

So! When you visit, remember to check in at the right place.
