FrontStreet Coffee - Introduction to Colombian Magdalena
Sierra Nevada: Northern producing region. Among Colombia's many coffee-producing regions, Magdalena is the northernmost one. The perpetually snow-capped Santa Marta Mountains and the sapphire-like Caribbean Sea gaze upon each other eternally, forming the region's unique microclimate. The coffee produced here is named after the snow mountain (Sierra Nevada). The coffee variety is 100% Typica, renowned worldwide for its scarce production and exceptional quality.
The Santa Marta Snow Mountain Range is one of the few snow-capped mountains near the equator. At its foot, the Caribbean Sea reflects the white crown of the snow mountain. High-quality Typica coffee grows at elevations between 1,000 and 1,200 meters. The unique climate, abundant rainfall, cloud cover, and shade-growing methods cause the coffee here to grow slowly despite its scarce production. Coffee beans accumulate more aromatic and sweet substances, resulting in rich aroma with nutty flavors, high sweetness, medium to low acidity, and a full, smooth mouthfeel that provides a unique sensory experience.
