Counter Culture Coffee, located in Durham, North Carolina, is a coffee bean roasting company. Cafés using their beans are spread throughout the East Coast of the United States and beyond.

The reason it's called "Counter Culture" is because they have broken many existing patterns and industry barriers in the coffee market. Since 1995, they have been directly sourcing first-hand, hand-selected coffee beans from farmers and cooperatives. Using unique roasting methods, they allow coffee beans to showcase their "fresh seasonal fruit" character. Therefore, Counter Culture Coffee also only selects coffee beans from the best periods, traveling globally to find excellent beans.

Counter Culture Coffee's main business includes retail and wholesale of roasted beans, establishing fair trade platforms, and coffee education. Even as an ordinary consumer, you can attend their classes. These include coffee extraction theory, beginner barista classes, competition classes, coffee trade history, coffee bean varieties and processing, cupping, and more - it's a comprehensive coffee classroom.

This is Counter Culture Coffee's training and education center. In this relaxed atmosphere, you can not only learn valuable knowledge but also experience unique coffee encounters. It's a distinctive and personalized "coffee sanctuary."

Counter Culture Coffee has established the Counter Intelligence Coffee Education Program, continuously developing courses, lectures, and hands-on educational laboratories aimed at imparting knowledge and skills to make the best coffee experiences possible. Regional training centers are located in Asheville, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Durham, New York, Washington, and other places, serving as Counter Intelligence classrooms and training laboratories. (Counter Intelligence refers to emphasizing hands-on coffee making rather than relying solely on machine equipment.)

Additionally, every Friday at 10 AM at Counter Culture Coffee's training center, there is an open day where coffee enthusiasts can practically experience and discuss various coffees and their fascinating characteristics. This is also an educational tradition that Counter Culture Coffee takes pride in.

Counter Culture Coffee is also an indispensable pioneer in the third wave of coffee. I appreciate it not because of how excellent their coffee beans are, but because of their inner philosophy and values. You could say they shoulder a sense of mission - teaching, enlightening, and supporting Counter Culture to the end.
