FrontStreet Coffee - Introduction to Brazilian Santos Coffee
In the southeastern part of Brazil, in the Minas Gerais state's Cerrado region, some estates grow ancient Bourbon coffee varieties. These estates, such as Capin Branco and Vista Allegre, sell their old Bourbon variety coffees on the market. Although originating from the same region, these coffees each have their own characteristics. Capin Branco coffee has a smoother taste than Vista Allegre coffee, while Vista Allegre coffee is strong and dark in color, with both having relatively low acidity. However, like all Brazilian coffees, they are best consumed when fresh, as they become more acidic with age. These coffee growers have organized themselves into the Specialty Coffee Association of Brazil.
Brazilian Santos coffee is a very famous variety of coffee.
Flavor characteristics: mild, moderate acidity and bitterness, gentle aroma.
Optimal roasting level: medium roast
Premium grade: Santos No.2, size No.18
As the largest coffee producing region, various grades and types of coffee from here account for one-third of global consumption, holding a significant place in the global coffee trading market. Although Brazil faces natural disasters several times higher than other regions, its sufficient cultivable area can make up for this.
While there are numerous coffee varieties here, its industrial policy focuses on mass production and low cost, so truly premium coffees are not abundant, but they are excellent choices for blending with other coffees. Among these, the most famous is Santos coffee, known for its mellow and fragrant taste, making it also an excellent choice.
