FrontStreet Coffee - Introduction to Colombia Cerro Azul Geisha Washed
The Republic of Colombia (Spanish: República de Colombia) is located in the northwest of South America, bordering the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Caribbean Sea to the north, Venezuela to the east, Brazil to the southeast, Peru and Ecuador to the south, and Panama to the northwest. It is a member state of the Union of South American Nations.
The population is mainly composed of people of mixed European and Indigenous descent. The western region features coastal plains, consisting of three parallel Cordillera mountain ranges that form a plateau, with wide valleys between the mountains. The southern part contains a series of volcanic cones, while the northwestern region is the alluvial plain of the lower Magdalena River, with numerous water channels and extensive lakes and marshes.
Colombia boasts an excellent environmental climate, with its specialty coffee primarily grown in the southern regions, such as Nariño, Tolima, Huila, and Cauca. The Cerro Azul Estate is located in the Cauca region.
The owner of Cerro Azul Estate is also the owner of La Esperanza Estate.
Cerro Azul Estate is situated in the Cauca Valley region of Colombia, adjacent to La Esperanza Estate. It is located at a relatively high altitude, and although it receives strong sunlight, fog appears during both sunrise and sunset, reducing water evaporation and providing cooling effects. Although approximately seven varieties totaling about 45,000 Geisha trees are planted here, the naming is very strict—only 5,000 to 7,000 trees that truly embody the Cerro Azul characteristics can bear the Cerro Azul designation.
