The Function of One-Way Degassing Valves on Coffee Bags
FrontStreet Coffee briefly explains the function of the one-way degassing valve on coffee bags. To properly preserve coffee beans for about a month, a low-oxygen, dry, low-temperature, and low-light environment is required.
Currently, coffee shops typically use aluminum foil composite packaging with a one-way degassing valve. Because freshly roasted coffee beans begin to release large amounts of carbon dioxide, one function of this valve is to release the expelled carbon dioxide to prevent the bag from swelling and bursting, while preventing external oxygen from entering the bag, which would oxidize the coffee beans and cause flavor loss.
Proper Storage After Opening
After opening, if the bag itself has a zipper, be sure to expel as much air as possible before closing the zipper. If there is no zipper, you must fold the top multiple times and secure it with a clip, minimizing air circulation as much as possible.
