Historical Journey of Geisha

The Geisha variety was discovered in the Geisha forest of Ethiopia in 1931 and later sent to the Coffee Research Institute in Kenya. In 1936 it was introduced to Uganda and Tanzania; in 1953, Costa Rica brought it in.

Sourced from the Grana processing station at the border of the Kochere and Grana Abaya areas, founded in 2014 and managed by Mr. Israel Degefa, where the coffee area covers 700 hectares, much of it untilled, with fertile soil and shade trees throughout. Hand-picked fully ripe cherries are dried on raised beds for 14-20 days depending on the weather. Medium-light roasted, it shows bright citrus acidity, an elegant ginger-lily aroma, ripe fruit sweetness, a fine silky texture, and the refined finish typical of the Geisha variety.
